Description: On July 5, 2019, Plaintiff was detained and arrested without cause by NYPD Officers Alex Viera, Christian Lopez, and Michael Maynard, and falsely accused by the officers of hitting one of them with a bottle. The officers used excessive force in arresting Plaintiff, breaking two of his teeth. The Plaintiff was then confined without arraignment for more than 24 hours. The officers falsely told prosecutors that they had seen Plaintiff throw the bottle, but withheld exculpatory body camera footage. The charges were dismissed after a grand jury found the officers not believable. As a result of the false accusations, the Plaintiff has been continually harassed by other NYPD officers.
