Description: On January 15, 2023, at 3:00 AM, Plaintiff Hakeem Smith was lawfully in the vicinity of 894 East Tremont Avenue, in the Bronx, NY. Absent any legal justification, Defendant NYPD Officers Cleeford Franklin, Wilson Alba, and John Does stopped, searched, grabbed, assaulted, battered, and detained Plaintiff. Plaintiff sustained serious injuries. Defendants further subjected Plaintiff to a strip search and falsely charged him with a crime. Plaintiff remained incarcerated for over 24 hours and was subjected to numerous court appearances until all charges against him were favorably terminated.

Description: On June 23, 2018, Plaintiffs Baldwin and Murray were lawfully on the street in Brooklyn with Robert Thompson's six-year-old son. The Plaintiffs were approached by unnamed NYPD Defendant officers and placed in handcuffs. After a thorough search, the Defendants uncovered no contraband. Despite this, the Plaintiffs were arrested and taken to the local precinct. The Plaintiffs were charged with, amongst other offences, loitering, attempted tampering with evidence and the promotion of gambling. The Plaintiffs were held for approximately 24 hours before being released. The charges against the Plaintiffs were ultimately dismissed.
