Description: On October 9, 2023, Plaintiff, an African American male with mental and intellectual disabilities, was walking home after leaving a party in Lafayette Gardens, Brooklyn, when he was approached by five men wearing religious attire resembling that of Hasidic Jews. These men assaulted and battered him violently. Defendant NYPD Officers, including Police Officer Ortega and Captain Goodchild, were aware of the situation but failed to intervene. The Defendants also tried to dissuade Plaintiff from pressing charges against the 5 men because they are jewish and filing complaint against NYPD.

Description: On October 9, 2020, Plaintiffs were attending a candlelight vigil outside the park located at Hancock Street and Spencer place when multiple police cars arrived on the scene and began to arrest one of the vigil attendees. One of the plaintiffs started to record the incident on their phone, and a Defendant officer approached the Plaintiff and pushed them onto the sidewalk. Plaintiff continued to record on their cellphone and was pushed a second time, causing them to fall to the floor.
