Description: On October 9, 2023, Plaintiff, an African American male with mental and intellectual disabilities, was walking home after leaving a party in Lafayette Gardens, Brooklyn, when he was approached by five men wearing religious attire resembling that of Hasidic Jews. These men assaulted and battered him violently. Defendant NYPD Officers, including Police Officer Ortega and Captain Goodchild, were aware of the situation but failed to intervene. The Defendants also tried to dissuade Plaintiff from pressing charges against the 5 men because they are jewish and filing complaint against NYPD.

Description: Oh February 20, 2023, Plaintiff was at a street corner playing with his friend's dog when Defendant Detective Michael Simmonds was driving and struck the dog with his car, which became trapped under the car. Plaintiff assisted in freeing the dog but Defendant Simmonds was intoxicated, the smell of alcohol was prevalent on his breath, and became enraged with Plaintiff. Defendant Simmonds then put his hand on his gun and trapped Plaintiff against a window and began choking him.
