Description: On May 15, 2021, Plaintiffs were approached by NYPD Officers Jose Rivera and Marcos Monegro-Santos. Officers Rivera and Monegro-Santos demanded that Plaintiff Maya speak with Emergency Medical Services that were present on the scene. Plaintiff Maya informed them she did not need medical attention, and was walking towards her mother when the Officers grabbed her by the neck, choked her, slammed her to the ground, and struck her. The same Officers also tackled Plaintiff Frazier to the ground and hit her. Both Plaintiffs were then handcuffed and taken to a local hospital for medical treatment before being taken to the precinct. Description: On January 6, 2021, the plaintiff was falsely arrested and detained at gunpoint. While held at gunpoint, the plaintiff was deprived of his constitutional rights, including his right to due process, his right to an attorney, and protection against unlawful seizure. During this incident, the plaintiff was psychologically and physically abused, defamed, and illegally imprisoned, despite the defendants knowing or having reason to know that there was no merit to the prosecution and that such prosecution was malicious and the imprisonment illegal.
