Description: On December 6, 2018, Plaintiff was with some friends on the side of the street waiting for an Uber they had ordered. Officers approached Plaintiff and his friends without cause and illegally searched and questioned them. The officers claimed they stopped Plaintiff because the Uber he had ordered was double parked. Instead of addressing the Uber driver, the officers arrested Plaintiff and his friends. Officers alleged that one of Plaintiff's friends had a weapon on their person and arrested Plaintiff and his friends. All were transferred to the precinct and detained. Plaintiff was released from custody about 24 hours later and was not charged.

Description: On November 29, 2018, Plaintiff Dwayne Hackshaw was at home (120 Baruch Drive, NY, NY) when Defendant Officers Kyle G. Barnett and John Does 1-8 unlawfully entered his residence and arrested him for possession of a firearm. Defendant officers claimed they had allegedly found a firearm at his daughter's grandmother's house that belonged to him, but his DNA was not found on it and he had no knowledge about it. He was not a resident at that location and the police did not allege that he lived there, nor did they recover a firearm on his person or inside his home. After being held for 21 hours, and missing 2 days of work, Plaintiff was released from Central Booking when he was declined to prosecute.

Description: On October 21, 2017, plaintiff while lawfully in the vicinity of Broadway and Myrtle Ave, Brooklyn, NY, was stopped, questioned, frisked, searched, falsely arrested, and falsely imprisonment by the defendant officers. Plaintiff was transported to the 79th precinct, where he was forcibly slammed into the holding cell causing him to suffer a laceration above and a hematoma to his right eye. Plaintiff was unlawfully imprisoned at the 79th Precinct and Brooklyn Central Booking for 20 hours until he was arraigned in Criminal Court, charged with crimes he did not commit, and released on his own recognizance. On December 18, 2017, the drug charges against plaintiff were dismissed and sealed.
