Description: On October 31, 2018, Plaintiffs DG, Anthony Ellis, & Travis McMeans (ages 13-15) were trick-or-treating with friends when multiple police cars arrived from both directions, stopping near the group. Numerous officers exited their vehicles and pointed their guns at the group of children. Anthony ran east, before being tackled by Defendant POM Shingru Wang, who then handcuffed the child with excessive tightness. DG ran east as well, until Defendant Lt. Description: On August 4, 2019, Derrick Ward, the plaintiff, was lawfully present at 413 Baltic Avenue in Brooklyn, New York, when he was allegedly assaulted and battered by Police Officer Justin Fausto, Sergeant Andrew Dickson, and other unidentified police officers. The assault involved being kicked, choked, stomped, and forcibly handcuffed. Ward was taken into police custody, transferred to a hospital for treatment, and then held in police detention until his release on August 5, 2019. The officers were acting within their employment with the City of New York, and the assault was alleged to have been done knowingly and without probable cause.
