Complaint
Description: On April 4, 2018, NYPD officers responded to a 911 call regarding Saheed Ndale Vassell, an emotionally disturbed individual, in Brooklyn. Officers Bekim Molic, Leon Dingham, Anthony Bottigliere, and Omar Rafiq were dispatched despite not being part of the Emergency Services Unit trained for such situations. Upon arrival, they shot Vassell multiple times without cause, resulting in his death. The plaintiffs, Eric Vassell as administrator of Saheed's estate and on behalf of Saheed's son, T.V., claim the officers acted negligently and recklessly, leading to Saheed's wrongful death. The suit also alleges negligent training and failure to follow proper protocols for handling emotionally disturbed individuals.
