Description: On or about September 3, 2022, Plaintiff was unlawfully stopped, searched, assaulted, and arrested by NYPD officers, including Detective Michael Balioni and unidentified officers, at a basketball court near 3415 Neptune Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. The officers used excessive force, including grabbing and striking Plaintiff, violently contorting his arms, and applying excessively tight handcuffs. Plaintiff was then transported to the NYPD 60th Precinct, where he was strip-searched, interrogated without counsel, and detained in unsanitary conditions before being transferred to Central Booking. He remained in custody until his release on or about September 5, 2022.

Description: On September 3, 2022, Plaintiffs were hosting an event called Sea Rise Basketball Clinic for the children in the community at the local basketball court. After the event, Plaintiffs and some friends from the community decided to stay on the court and play another game of basketball, when suddenly they heard a loud noise and ran for their safety. A few moments later, about ten police vehicles suddenly appeared on the scene to investigate the alleged report of gunshots fired.
