Description: On June 10, 2012, the plaintiff, Karl Heinz-Wright, was driving his car when the defendant NYPD officers pulled him over and ordered him out of his car. When he stepped out of his car, the defendants slammed him against it and handcuffed and arrested him. The defendants also searched his car. At no point did Mr. Heinz-Wright commit any crime or violation, and no evidence of unlawful activity was found in his car. He was brought to a precinct and spent approximately twenty-four hours in custody before all proceedings against him were adjourned in contemplation of dismissal on June 11, 2012.

Description: On 29th August 2013, Plaintiff was driving and pulled over by NYPD P.O. Michael Koledin, allegedly for hanging air freshener on the mirror. Plaintiff was asked for license and registration, which he provided. Plaintiff then said "The only reason you pulled me over is because I'm black". Defendant Koledin then opened the car door, tried to drag Plaintiff out, and began punching him in the head and face. Another NYPD police officer joined in. Defendant was unlawfully arrested and transported to the Precinct. He requested medical care but this was denied. Plaintiff suffered two black eyes and a subconjunctival hemorrhage.
