Description: On May 9, 2017, in the vicinity of the Cross Bronx Expressway and Third Avenue, defendant police officer approached plaintiffs, who peacefully gathered in mourning of a friend who had recently passed, and ordered them to place their hand above their heads without any justification. Defendant officers then proceeded to question, search, and arrest plaintiffs, despite possessing no valid reason to do so. Plaintiffs were then, despite their plea, struck and handcuffed with excessive force, causing substantial physical pain. Description: On or about July 17, 2019, NYPD officer defendants Andy Rollins and John Avellino approached plaintiff, along with unnamed NYPD officer defendants, as he was waiting outside of a friend's residence and unlawfully stopped, handcuffed and arrested plaintiff. He was taken to the 48th precinct and strip searched and falsely charged with marijuana and weapon possession, which charges were eventually dropped. Plaintiff suffered severe and long lasting physical injuries as a result of his arrest.
