On April 28, 2006, at around 12:30am, a large-scale fight took place during a block party near [redacted] in the Bronx. A number of officers from the 44th Precinct were already in the area after a report of shots fired was made a few blocks away. After observing large crowds in front of [redacted] the Commanding Officer and the Executive Officer of the 44th Precinct, Ins. James Essig and Cpt. William McSorley, walked to the scene. Around this time, both officers overheard a group of youths make statements indicating that further violence was imminent. Due to this suspicion as well as 'airmail' being thrown at the officers from the vicinity of the building, several officers, including Ins. Essig and Cpt. McSorley, entered [redacted] As various officers conducted vertical patrols in the building, Ins. Essig and Cpt. McSorley came across a group of youths including [redacted] arguing loudly in the 2nd floor hallway. Ins. Essig and Cpt. McSorley forcibly stopped [redacted] (Allegations A and B). As Ins. Essig held [redacted] against a wall, the [redacted] sisters attempted to intervene. Cpt. McSorley pushed both girls back ([redacted] twice) before [redacted] ran towards him with her arms flailing, striking him in the face (Allegation C). Cpt. McSorley responded by forcefully pushing or striking [redacted] in the upper body, forcing her back (Allegation C). Cpt. McSorley then pursued [redacted] and threw a right punch, striking [redacted] in the face and causing her head to collide with [redacted] (Allegation C). Cpt.
