Summary

On June 7, 2014, at approximately 2:09 a.m., [redacted] and [redacted] were inside of [redacted] in Brooklyn, which was a bar that they owned. [redacted] ran into the bar with a machete following an altercation that happened on the street. He was followed by officers from Brooklyn North Vice. [redacted] did not know that the Brooklyn North Vice officers were police and he shut the door of the bar and held it shut so that the officers could not gain access. When [redacted] saw the officers' badges, he granted them access to the bar. Unidentified officers entered the bar (Allegation A) with their firearms drawn and they allegedly damaged the door upon entering (Allegation A continued). The officers pointed their guns at the patrons of the bar (Allegation B). The officers told everyone to "shut the fuck up" (Allegation C). Officers grabbed people from their chairs and put them on the ground. [redacted] attempted to call 911 as she did not know the officers were the police and one of the officers kicked her cellphone out of her hand (Allegation D). The cellphone was not damaged as a result of the kick. Numerous officers from different commands, in uniform and in plainclothes, and officers from an unknown law enforcement agency (not the NYPD) arrived at the location. [redacted] was arrested along with [redacted] was also arrested outside of the bar and he was in possession of a baseball bat. DET Tiernan stated, "Pick up your shit and get out" (Allegation E continued). Read report for details.
