On July 4, 2019, at approximately 1:50 a.m., on Sterling Place at Utica Avenue in Brooklyn, Sgt. Robert Barnett, Det. Jeremy Veit, Det. Bennett Shelley, and Det. John Antoniades, all of SRG (Sgt. Barnett has been reassigned to the Drug Enforcement Task Force, Det. Veit to the Criminal Enterprise Investigation Section, Det. Shelley to the Firearm Suppression Section, and Det. Antoniades resigned (BR 01)) stopped the vehicle in which [redacted] and [redacted] were occupants (Allegations A, B, and C: Abuse of Authority – Vehicle Stop, [redacted] Allegation D: Abuse of Authority - Vehicle Stop, [redacted]). Det. Antoniades asked [redacted] to step out of the car and allegedly patted down the outside of his clothes (Allegation E: Abuse of Authority – Frisk [redacted] and put his hands into [redacted]s pants pockets (Allegation F: Abuse of Authority – Search (of person), [redacted]).
Det. Antoniades told [redacted] "There's weed in the car," and asked [redacted] to step out of the car. When [redacted] did not immediately get out of the car, Det. Antoniades allegedly reached into the open front driver's side window, pressed the unlock button, which was on the interior of the door, and opened the back driver's side door where [redacted] was sitting (Allegation G: Abuse of Authority - Vehicle Search, [redacted]). When [redacted] stepped out of the car, Det. Antoniades allegedly patted down the exterior of [redacted]s clothes (Allegation H: Abuse of Authority - Frisk, [redacted]) and removed [redacted]s wallet, keys, and Air Pods from his pants pockets (Allegation I: Abuse of Authority – Search (of person), [redacted]). Det. Antoniades then allegedly pulled the front of [redacted]s shorts away from his body, exposing his underwear (Allegation J: Abuse of Authority – Strip Search, [redacted]).
