Description: On March 12, 2021, Plaintiff was a passenger in a vehicle in Brooklyn, New York, when police officers, including Detective Specialist Alvaro Contreras, Sergeant Junaid Saeed, Police Officer Michael Sidorskiy, and Lieutenant Thomas Redmond, stopped the vehicle without reasonable suspicion or probable cause. ​The officers falsely claimed the vehicle's license plates were improperly displayed and that they smelled marijuana, which they used as a pretext to detain and search Plaintiff and the vehicle.​ Despite finding no contraband, the officers falsely alleged that they observed a gun in the vehicle to justify further searches.
